You guys had some good wins over Central bro - what's the story with Whakatane? It looks like Mangakino is now their reserve team and Central have got their own reserves?

I had a little chuckle at Ngongotaha - we were told if you don't have two teams you can't play premiers (which is why we got demoted), and then they only had one team play on Saturday. Hope they don't default this weekend when we play them.

I'm starting to wonder if this whole draw is going to get rearranged midway through the season like the Bay did last year :(

Yeah we did have some good wins, still to hot to be playing though! We had U17s play before our reserves also, so having 3 games on the same day was mean for both Clubs.

A few stories coming out of Whakatane, jobs are pretty risky at the moment and Matt Te Pou is coaching ruggas there and players are excited at playing under him and have gone back to that slack game.

I think nearly everyone had a chuckle at Ngongotaha, always worrying about others and can't even show up on the day.

I think having the other districts involved will stop that rearranged problem you had last year, our district is 100% behind this comp and want to see it succeed.

Nah, we couldn't do it. Pikiao brought eveything to the game on Saturday. People that watched the game said it was fantastic, hits and great running by both teams. We had one of our better completition rates this year but wasn't good enough.

The score I posted of Ngo and Forestland is incorrect, Prems and Reserves should be around the other way.

Good for Taupo to go thru unbeaten for the 1st round. Most of the Clubs I've spoken to are enjoying the comp.

Heard you are out for the season?

Bring on round 2!!

That would have been a good game to watch alright - it's looking pretty tight in the prems at the top of the table.

Yeah, the Phoenix boys are doing okay but plenty of improvement still to make. We have a lot of young guys and they've still got some work to do before they are prem material which is our goal at the moment. We want back in next year, all we have to do is keep our numbers together!

And yeah had to retire early with a dodgy knee. Gotta get an op in the next few weeks and then 6 months of rehab. It bloody sux watching from the sideline! We're definitely enjoying the comp this year and hope it remains the same next year (or grows if Waikato finally come back into the fold).

Good luck for round 2 bro

My top 4 picks for the prems are Otumoetai, Pikiao, Ngongotaha and Pacific. Any one of them could take it out...Ngongotaha and Pacific always lift come finals time so could cause upsets if they make it through.
Pikiao have been running rampant in this second half of the comp so I'm picking them to meet Otumoetai in the final (I hear you might have bent your arm BMan? that could be costly for the Eels.
Forestlands are still in with a chance but they seem to have fallen away lately with 4 losses from there last 5 games. They were one of the teams to watch early on too.
Does anyone know how they decide where the final will be played if it ends up being a Rotorua (for BOP teams) vs Tauranga (for the Eels) game?

You haven't that much confidence in the Eels there? We were up against in Tokoroa last week very passionate crowd over there.
Arm has healed just, more injuries since then bro!!
I haven't heard how the finals will go either, Len is overseas at he moment. He will have a meeting with everyone to discuss I hear.
Good comp this year, your team has been dominating all year, we hope to upset that perfect record when your team travels these ways soon. Are ya coming over for that game?

Lol, Eels should make the finals bro...probably both of them if we look at the way the points table is at the moment. Haha,
we welcome the challenge! We know your guys weren't at full strength last time so the boys are looking forward to it. I'll likely come over for a look - I haven't seen your clubrooms yet so wouldn't mind a bit of a nosy. Hopefully we can pick up some tips on how to get two teams running strongly for next year.

Skay what happened bro? Pacific are strong at home but thought you would have the fitness over them.
Will be a big game this week at Mitchell Park.
We will get the support from our crowd and defintely give Taupo a good game.
Boys had an impressive win at Mangakino yesterday. I didn't know what to do with myself having the weekend off from league. Heaps of jobs around the house accomplished though.
Pikiao losing has helped us keep top spot.
Have you heard any word about finals yet?

lol, I put the hoodoo on us and Pikiao I think. Should have kept my trap shut . We played pretty badly and Pacific deserved to trounce us. At least it happened now and not in the semi's though. We get a bit of a free life and a bit of a wake up call for the boys...we got a bit more work to do I guess. I haven't heard anything about how the finals will work (I'll just be happy if we get there first lol).

You back playing yet or just supporter?
Was a good hoodoo for us both ways, lol.
Hope the weather will be kind to us this weekend and make it 2 good games.
4th position in Reserves is anyones at the moment, by the performances I have seen, Pacific look the stronger out the teams aiming for 4th.
Mango could just miss out if they don't play to the strengths. They had a few players missing yesterday and have been slack at training, words from the coach, they hosted the boyz well.

Had my first game in about 2 or 3 months on Saturday for a bit of a blast. I think that's why we lost - too unfit! I'm back supporting now.
The Turangi boys were telling us they were going to pull out of this weekends game which is going to make it even tougher for us. Never mind, we'll still be there...

I dont understand how it will make it tougher for Taupo? It was always going to be a had game for yous no matter what. We field 2 seperate teams every week.
Boyz will be hoping for a game this week with Turangi, 2 weeks without a game will be hard to handle. Turangi have done well this season, no defaults so far.

I was hoping Turangi could have taken some heat from that Mitchell Park crowd for us! We offered to throw them some players if they needed them but I don't know if they were that keen. Hopefully they change their mind...

You have a safe trip back down to the cold?
Good win to your team, Some interesting scores from weekend Pacific prems losing, and Mango going down by that much.

Massive weekend Eels and congrats on the win. Unlucky Ngongotaha to miss out for another year but at least you made it there and pushed it close in the end.

Awesome day for rugby league...huge crowds out there supporting their teams so well done to all the organisers.

Good luck to all the teams travelling to Hamilton for one last club game against the Waikato champs.
